Surge LLC (formerly Metrisoft LLC), a global software consulting and technology firm founded in 2007 and headquartered in the Seattle area, offers both products and professional services that accelerate the development of custom web, mobile, SaaS, and Cloud software applications.
Surge has extensive experience working with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) that want to accelerate their time-to-market by outsourcing the design & development
of their "version 1.0" software products. Surge also works with medium to large enterprises to build and migrate custom .NET software systems and SharePoint web solutions.
Management Team
Matt MacKay – CEO & Founder
Matt is the CEO and Founder of Surge. Under his leadership and direction the company has successfully designed, developed, and implemented cutting edge software solutions for a variety of clients. Prior to founding Surge, Matt was the Founder and CTO of RemedyMD, a healthcare technology company. While at RemedyMD Matt forged partnerships with two major medical equipment providers, sold software licensing contracts to large healthcare institutions including The Cleveland Clinic, raised over $5M in private equity, filed a patent ("Method and Apparatus for Rendering a Database"), and grew the company to 60 people. Matt has an extensive technology background, having worked in key software engineering leadership roles at PACCAR, an international truck manufacturer, and TenFold, a software development and consulting company. He is a veteran project manager and software architect who prides himself in delivering robust solutions on time and under budget. Matt received a B.S. in Business Management/Information Systems from Brigham Young University.
Erik Oh – EVP, Director of Sales & Business Development
Erik is the Executive Vice President of Surge and leads Sales and Business Development. Erik's prior experience includes working as the first Sales Director for RemedyMD where he was responsible for selling key accounts that generated over $1M (recurring) revenue within a year of launching the product. While at RemedyMD, Erik forged relationships with key advisory councils and consortiums and established RemedyMD as the "gold standard" data management system within the Bariatric Surgery market. Erik has an extensive background selling innovative and disruptive medical devices. He is a prominent sales executive, having worked with major brands such as Swiss Army Wenger, DaVinci Robotic Surgery, and Comcast. Erik has a unique talent in taking new products and services to market and establishing profitable and repeatable sales cycles. Examples include Trivium Medical Solutions, which became the largest Aesthetic Laser distribution force in the US, and Inhouse Consulting Group, which was recognized as one of the nation's fastest growing credit consulting firms. Erik likes to “parachute in behind enemy lines, establish a foothold and drive sales until we dominate the marketplace”. He received a B.S. in Physiology with a minor in Business Management from Brigham Young University and is a former member of the USA Bobsled Team.
Dave Carlston – Director of Product Design
Dave is responsible for Surge's Design Team. A gifted communicator and creative problem solver, Dave created a unique “specs illustrated” method to help Surge maximize its Agile development process and ensure that the user experience is positive, aesthetically appealing and productive. (In other words, “elegant.”) Prior to joining Surge, Dave wore multiple hats at RemedyMD (Director of Product Marketing, Director of Professional Services, Director of Training). There he led design and development efforts to create, position, and promote numerous web-based (SaaS) healthcare and medical informatics products. Other previous work experiences include teaching visual thinking and problem solving skills at the University of Utah, consulting Fortune 500 companies in their corporate training strategies (e.g., Toshiba, Washington Mutual, TheraSense), and leading product development efforts at various startup companies. Dave graduated summa cum laude with an Economics degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Tyler Schroeder – Director of Product Development
Tyler’s responsibilities at Surge include managing the development of client products and expanding and improving the Surge Platform. He is responsible for training new developers, architecting product solutions, and leading the development teams throughout the development lifecycle. Prior to joining Surge, Tyler worked as a Senior Developer and Team Lead for The Markets LLC, a regional grocery store chain. There he developed applications for managing inventory, product loss, and cashier performance. In addition, Tyler has worked as a freelance developer in high demand for over 6 years, developing websites and web applications for a variety of industries. He is a highly regarded .NET programmer and application architect. Tyler graduated from Western Washington University with a major in Management Information Systems and a minor in Economics.
