The recent furor over Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has had everyone’s attention for the last few months; as a result, blockchain, the enabling technology that makes Bitcoin possible, is the newest technology fad. In fact, when the Long Island iced Tea Company simply added “blockchain” to their name, the stock nearly tripled. It would be easy to dismiss blockchain as a mere fad – but that would be a mistake. Blockchain – a cryptographically-protected, distributed, auditable, secure ledger – has promise far beyond cryptocurrencies, in areas as diverse as HIPAA-compliant medical records, reliable and auditable computer security, and in the Internet of Things. In this seminar, we will talk about what blockchain is and what it does, and explore the properties that make it potentially one of the most valuable applications of the internet. Join us as we explore The Promise of Blockchain.
